Sugar Scrub: Why You Need My DIY Organic Recipe

Scrub away all your troubles with my Organic Sugar Scrub recipe. It’s quick and easy to make with only 3 organic ingredients. This scrub is strong enough to stand up to dead skin cells but gentle enough for all those sensitive areas.

Benefits of Organic Scrubs

Losens and removes dead skin cells

Need a serious skin rejuvenation? This scrub is just what you need. Exfoliate away built up skin cells to expose the fresh, baby smooth layers underneath.

Reduces ingrown hairs

Follow your regular shaving routine with this gentle scrub to reduce the number of ingrown hairs. Not only are they unsightly but they can be very uncomfortable… especially if they get infected.

Unclogs pores

Help reduce acne by unclogging your pores the old fashioned way… with a manual exfoliation. Keep breakouts at bay with this tried and true method of cleansing your skin.

Nourishes your skin

After the sugar does its job of removing that top layer of dead skin, the coconut oil in this recipe will keep your skin hydrated and nourished. Between its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, this oil will keep your skin looking young and vibrant.

Increases blood circulation

Did you know that the simple act of massage improves blood circulation which has soo many benefits. This additional blood flow helps the transport of essential vitamins and minerals throughout your body.

brown sugar makes a wonderful base for a sugar scrub

Sugar or Salt?

You can use either sugar or salt depending on what body parts you plan on scrubbing. They’re both excellent exfoliators that will remove your unwanted dead skin.

Sugar scrubs

Sugar based scrubs are generally more gentle depending on which type of sugar you choose.

I usually opt for organic brown table sugar as it better suited for sensitive areas like your face and bikini area. Be careful not to use unrefined sugars for these sensitive areas, as they are more abrasive and may cause irritation.

Using a sugar scrub is a great option if you’re looking for a manual exfoliator. Don’t use this base if you’re expecting to get any mineral benefits.

Salt scrubs

Salt based scrubs on the other hand provide more benefits to your skin. Not only do these scrubs remove dead skin cells, they cleanse your body by pulling out toxins and reducing inflammation.

Due to it’s abrasive characteristic, salt scrubs are best saved for drier areas like your feet, knees and elbows. You should avoid sensitive areas like your face and bikini area.

Another downfall to this base is the burning it may cause on broken or fragile skin. Avoid use on sunburnt or freshly shaved areas.

To receive best results follow this scrub with my Organic Whipped Body Butter Recipe

If scrub is too solid to use, place jar in a bowl of hot water to soften coconut oil

Mix and match essential oils until you find your favorite blend. I personally love this scrub without added scent but if I had to choose I would go with orange and almond
